Rosa Mexicano

(Above: Real chili peppers in the landscape outside Rosa Mexicano in Hackensack, NJ)

I don't typically enjoy a chain restaurant, especially having all of the eating options in Manhattan, but I do like Rosa Mexicano. It's not a typical Mexican restaurant; rather, it is more upscale and specializes in small plates, as well as larger entrees, that aren't heavy in sour cream, ground beef, and hard taco shells. They carry items such as duck pie, crab empanadas, spicy black bean and pumpkin tamale, pomegranate margarita, a guac made table-side, and much more. Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but it's a nice atmosphere, good food, and good drinks. If you like Dos Caminos, then Rosa Mexicano is right up your alley.
