Rob and I have discovered a new favorite restaurant....Oh Taisho (located on St. Marks Place between 2nd and 3rd Ave.) You won't find sushi on this Japanese restaurant's menu!
Oh Taisho specializes in yakitori (meat on a stick) and other Japanese street foods. My personal favorites have been the scallion skewers, chicken meatball skewers, and the tuna/avocado salad. Did I mention they serve 60oz Sapporo pitchers for $12? That's pretty cheap for this city!
