Civet Coffee

A species of Civet, a mammal mostly found in Asia and Africa, called a Kopi Luwak, eats coffee berries, poops them out, and then people harvest the poo and make coffee from the leftover seeds. My Vietnamese homies actually mastered this technique and consider it a delicacy. Would you try this coffee?

Dumb-Dumb of the Week: Cat Burglar

There is a criminal on the loose in NYC ,and you will find her in a catwoman-like mask. Well isn't this a new definition of "cat burglar"? Maybe it's not dumb, maybe it's somewhat genius.
Not to mention, look at this police sketch!

My First Sofa

I bought my first couch EVER! Sounds funny to some of you, considering that I've lived away from home for 7 years now, but I was in a dorm for one year, sorority for 3 years, a previously furnished apartment in LES for one year, and a previously furnished apartment in West Village for the past 2. SOOO I've never even had the opportunity to buy the furnishings that I really want. That will all change in a few days when I get the keys to Rob and I's new apartment!

I've been looking for furnishings for months now and thinking what to spend money on and what to go cheap on. When I found the Zen sofa from Macy's not only did I get the look that I wanted, but also the comfort level I wanted in a couch (Rob thinks it's comfy too). To make things even better, the couch was only $649 (came out to $723 with tax and delivery). The bad thing is that we chose a custom color (Charcoal) and the couch will take 8-10 weeks to arrive. Oh well!!

I BELIEVE!!

Whether you believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", Karma - Do good things and good things will happen (the dumbed down version), or the Golden Rule - "Treat others as you would like to be treated"; one ethical code is universal and that is to do what is right and you will not regret it.

Time to Decorate!!

I have never had a proper opportunity to decorate my own space. When I first moved to NY, my bedroom was also the living room (and I slept on the futon), and my current apartment is so small that we are limited to what we can do. FINALLY, I will have a chance to see if the ideas that have been running through my head these past few months will translate into a sleek, modern, yet warm and fun design. How do you feel about some things I've picked out?

NKOTB

When asked if I wanted to go to NKOTB for free at Radio City, what do you think I said? DUH!! Of course I said yes. The moment Eryc offered me the ticket, I had thoughts of Jordan, Donnie, Danny, Jonathan, and Joey serenading me on stage with their shirts off. I LOVED these guys growing up, and after seeing them in person and 15 years later, I STILL love them.

The crowd was very interesting, I must say. It was basically 6,000 cougars and milfs who were in their teens when NKOTB was at their finest. I was expecting to see some bras tossed, but no such thing happened in front of my eyes.

So the guys played some new stuff that I didn't know, but didn't mind because they still have some fly moves. They also played many of my favorites - Hanging Tough, Step by Step, Tonight, Please Don't Go Girl, and so many more. All in all, it was a GREAT night with a great group of friends.

Just Married!

My beautiful cousin MaryAnne just got married, and I could not be happier for her. Unfortunately I couldn't make the wedding back in Indy, but from the photos, it looked like a grand time. Love you cousin and congrats to you and Dillon!!

Candy Land

I LOVE candy. I had such a big craving today that I went on this candy website (Candy Warehouse) to decide what to buy at Duane Reade tomorrow. Not only do I love to eat candy, but something about all the fun shapes, flavors, and colors just makes me happy. Call me weird, but if candy doesn't make you happy, then you must be diabetic.

My New Pad

After 4 years together, Rob and I have decided to move in together. There was no way I was going to move to Jersey, so naturally, I wanted him to move to the city. I love my little birds' nest that I share with Courtney, but after 2 years in this place, it's time to move on. Rob and I decided to move to the Financial District. Now this is not the hippest or most happening part of the city, but you can get the most apartment for the money, close to all subways and the PATH, and we do have a bunch of friends who do live down here. My current apartment is only $200/month cheaper than our new place, except that our new place has 24 hour doorman/concierge, elevator, rooftop, lounge, gym, breakfast 5 days a week, washer/dryer in-unit, dishwasher, and the option to pay rent with Amex. My current place has NONE of these. So I would consider this a no-brainer move. I will say that this place is not big by any means, but has an open floor plan that I can't wait to make my own.

I Wanna Wear...

Just a few looks I am admiring. I want to take these and interpret them using my own wardrobe.

Fancy Hats For Sophisticated Peoples

These would have been perfect in McNutt or Rettig/Bottigliero/Rayburn's costume boxes.

Potted Jewelry

Not sure if I would want one of these, but HAF by Hafsteinn Juliusson has a line of "Growing Jewelry" -- "It is a clash of jewelry and gardening; couture and organism." These little pots of moss only need to be watered every 4-5 weeks and can last from 8-12 months.
